Get picked up from your hotel and drive to Sungai Sireh Village. Greet your guide and sip on a welcome drink before touring the village, admiring the bountiful green of the beckoning paddy field, and the rush of the nearby river trickling clean, fresh water.
Tour the gorgeous paddy field, learning about the history and traditional process for harvesting rice. During the harvest season you are able to see the process first-hand, witnessing the use of a foot-powered mortar, a lesung.
Walk through the fruit and vegetable orchard, plucking seasonal, fresh fruits without added sugar or preservatives. Try to crack open the thorny durian, if it's in season, for a truly regional experience. Grab a fishing rod and hit the creek, and you might get rewarded with steaming hot curry with fresh fish. Walk through the kampong, meet the villagers, and admire the wooden interior of a kampong house.
Lunch is served kampong style, giving you an opportunity to enjoy a variety of local dishes, including ulams, or fresh greens and chilies pounded with prawn paste. After lunch, get to work with handicrafts. Make an ornament from a coconut leaf, and perform batik painting to bring home as a fond memory of your trip. Bid farewell to the villagers and return to Kuala Lumpur.
