Encounter Wild Borneo at its best! An enormous dipterocarp rainforest located in the eastern part of Sabah, Tabin Wildlife Reserve has a hugely diverse range of flora and fauna. Due to the large numbers of animal species inhabiting its 120,500 hectares of protected forest area, including some highly-endangered ones, it was declared a ‘wildlife reserve’, playing an important role as a safe breeding ground for Sabah’s endangered wildlife and protected mammals. Tabin has several interesting mud volcanoes which provide mineral salts for the wild animals, as well as three of the largest land mammals of Sabah, the Borneo Pygmy Elephant, the Sumatran Rhino and the Tembadau.

Sabah Tabin Wildlife Reserve Tour - 3 days 2 nights

Day 01 LAHAD DATU-TABIN (Lunch/DInner)
Transfer from Lahad Datu to Tabin Wildlife Reserve on gravel road. Journey takes approximately 1 hour. Register, unpack and a short rest upon arrival. A visit to the Lipad mud volcano in the afternoon. A trek through the jungle for 20 minutes, before arriving at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano known to be frequented by deers, wild boars, elephants and birds. Footprints of various animals can be identified around this area. Experience the beautification properties of the volcanic mud said to result in a fine complexion. A presentation on the uniqueness of Tabin ensues after dinner, followed by night-time activities to look out for nocturnal wildlife species
Day 02 TABIN (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
A scenic walk to explore part of the route that leads to Tabin's core area, as well as a chance to see an undisturbed primary lowland dipterocarp rainforest and the wildlife residing within the area. A visit to the Lipad's waterfall for a chance to explore the surrounding vegetation or to just relax. Return to Tabin Wildlife Reserve in the afternoon
Day 03 TABIN-LAHAD DATU (Breakfast/Lunch)
After breakfast, a stroll to the nearby rock pool or riverside follows where you can take a refreshing dip or simply immerse yourself in nature. After lunch, depart from Tabin Wildlife Reserve to Lahad Datu.
