Sabah Mountain Torq Packages
Sabah Climbing Packages
Mountain Torq is the latest mountain climbing outfit to offer Via Ferrata – The first of its kind in Southeast Asia and the highest in the world. Already an established activity in Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland, Via Ferrata is now available from the mountaintops of Mount Kinabalu, one of the highest peaks in Southeast Asia. The main draw of Via Ferrata is that it gives novice climbers and beginners the opportunity to traverse routes and steep slopes normally inaccessible except to the most experienced mountaineers.
To the unfamiliar, Via Ferrata is actually an Italian term (where the activity originates from) for accessing harsh mountain paths using a series of rungs, rails and cables. Normally, certain parts of a mountain may have terrain that is too steep or tough to scale without proper experience and equipment. However, by embedding steel rungs onto rock faces, attaching cables across chasms and building railings along steep gorges for support, novices and beginners can now hike on these routes, under the watchful eyes of a guide, in relative safety and support.
The term ‘Via Ferrata’ itself means ‘Iron Road’, a reference to the metal rungs and railings fixed along a mountain route. While Via Ferrata activity is the highlight, the Mountain Torq tour packages will also bring you up to the summit of Mount Kinabalu via Low’s Peak, introduce you to repelling and impart basic skills of mountain climbing. All these activities are conveniently rolled into different packages below to suit your liking.
