Aborigine Settlement & Elephant Sanctuary

start from MYR 398

This tour is an adventure from Kuala Lumpur to Pahang to experience life in the forest through visiting Aborigine villages and getting up, close and personal with elephants in the Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Center. The journey there will take 1 hour and 45 minutes. We first visit an Aborigine settlement, where we get to see the daily lifestyles of the ‘Orang Asli’, the name of these forest people.

Next, we head to the Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Center, where wild and rogue elephants are relocated for a better life in this sanctuary or moved to a national park. Many elephants often find themselves without a home when their rainforest habitat is destroyed for agricultural purposes. As a result, these aimless elephants are then caught and relocated here. In this sanctuary, visitors can ride on tamed elephants, feed them or even bathe with them in the river.

Aborigine Settlement & Elephant Sanctuary

Pick up at 08:45 - 09:15

Duration 8 hours

Our first stop is the Aborigine Settlement.

Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation was established in 1989 by the Department of wildlife and National parks. The centre is a base for the Elephant Relocation Team, Which began the elephant translocations problem programme in 1974. The only one of its kind in Malaysia, the team is dedicated to locating, subduing and then translocation problem elephants from areas where their habitats are constantly being encroached by plantations and to other suitable habitats throughout the Peninsular such as Taman Negara. Over the past 25 years the centre has helped prevent the further declined of the elephant population by relocating more than 300 wild elephants. Tour includes elephant ride, elephant feeding and those who are brave; we suggest you bring a change of clothes and towel if you wish to participate in water activities such as swimming and bathing the elephant in the river
